Drive-by "Shooting" 1/10

Posted by
Georgie (Sherwood Park, Canada) on 14 July 2011 in Documentary & Street and Portfolio.

The elite riders, the greyhounds of the tour, were amazing to watch and very difficult to shoot as they whizzed by.

Please enjoy "the way I see it".

Hi Georgie!!

@El pare: Hi Manel. I apologize for not visiting and commenting as the summer has kept me busy with yardwork and weekend photo shoots with Eric. Our grandson, Cael, has been visiting lots with his Papa and GG as well. Will try to get back on track!

@Eric Cousineau: The car and cyclists moving at the same time.....definitely a challenge for this rookie!

Judy aka L@dybug from Brooksville, FL, United States

WOW ... 1/1200 second is a super fast shutter speed ... this is marvelous, Georgie!

PS: So glad you, Eric & Cael were safe from that horrible fire across the street from you!

14 Jul 2011 2:26pm

@Judy aka L@dybug: Thank you Judy. I'm pleased with my first attempt at action photography but still have LOTS to learn in this field.

I wanted to leave our home at the beginning of the fire in case the gasoline in the cars exploded but we were blocked in with firetrucks and emergency vehicles. I guess they were keeping the safety of all in mind nonetheless.

Curly from South Shields, United Kingdom

Great sort of action shot, well done!

This is a really good action shot Georgie. No blurs, excellent lighting.

@Viewfinder: Thanks Glenn! The others may have a slight blur but I thought the story was too important to pass up sharing!

Well done Georgie!

@Don Levesque: Thank you Don. This was my first time shooting such action so some photos are not technically perfect but couldn't pass the opportunity to try something new.

@Elliott: The weekend was a definite challenge for me. I've never shot such action before and even though the shots are technically not perfect, I'm very pleased with the overall outcome! Will study up before next year and see if I can improve! Thanks for all your guidance and help!

Judy aka L@dybug from Brooksville, FL, United States

I just found your reply, Georgie, and I can appreciate your desire to leave your home. With Cael in your care, that had to be a horrific concern, but thankfully the firefighters were able to do their job!

23 Jul 2011 10:16pm

@Judy aka L@dybug: I should have had more faith with these firefighters. Thank you for your concern.
